Cutting Down Our Tree

This Christmas was the first Christmas that we got to spend at Jamie's parents new Lake House at Priest Lake. We decided it would be fun to go out and cut down our own tree on Christmas Eve.
Here is Jamie's Dad (Mike) and her sister (Jenni) with the lucky tree

Brendan approves!

The family with the tree! So fun to have Jamie's Aunt Sherrie up to visit for the day.

Jenni, Justin and LuLu

Aren't they cute

Brendan loves to be outside!!

Even Grandma came with us to get the tree. Here she is with Brendan when we got home!

It was very fun to come back and decorate the tree. Might have to become a new tradition!

A Fun Date Day

Growing up in Sun Valley ID, Josh was destined to love to ski. When I got married to Josh I knew I needed to learn how to golf and ski. Josh has been a very patient teacher of both sports. I will go golfing because it is often a great time to be with Josh, My Dad and friends. But, I have come to LOVE skiing. I love the outdoors, the sound of your ski's across the snow, the feel of the air blowing by you as you go down the mountain, the burning that your legs experience as you near the bottom of a run, sitting down in the lodge for lunch after skiing all morning, and being with my amazing husband. For Christmas I asked Josh if we could go skiing on the 26th. My wonderful parents offered to watch Brendan for the day so we could go together. It was a GREAT day. We had so much fun being together and enjoying the outside. Thank you Josh for being the best husband and father--you are a blessing to me.

Christmas Letters

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.5

One of my favorite things this time of year is getting all the Christmas Cards. It is so fun to get something in the mail besides bills. I look forward to opening all the letters and seeing all the pictures. My Grandma gave us a Christmas Card holder the first Christmas Josh and I were married that her and my Grandpa used. It is one that goes over our door...I love to watch it get all filled up with cards as December goes on. Thank you to everyone who sends us cards, we are so thankful for all our dear family and friends.

Many Blessings on a WONDERFUL Christmas!!

Most Wonderful Time of the Year

We had a great visit with Josh's mom & step dad this past weekend. What a joy to be with them. It is so fun to watch Brendan love them so much.

Brendan was spoiled with a bunch of cute new outfits and some new toys. He had fun playing with some new cars and a slide for the cars to slide down (seen in the picture above. It made us all giggle to watch him play with a new Baby Tickle Me Elmo...Hilarious!

Brendan was so happy to have his Grammy and Grandpa J here. He laughed and made us laugh all weekend. We are so blessed to have such amazing families.

Thanksgiving

We had a very special Thanksgiving. It was a Thanksgiving of first's. This is of course Brendan's first Thanksgiving--what a joy and blessing he is. We are definitely all thankful for him!!

It was also the first Thanksgiving (and the first big holiday) that we were able to celebrate at my parents new lake house on Priest Lake. Here is a picture Josh took from the deck at the beautiful winter scape and the little family of geese.

It was also Brendan's first time in the snow. He wasn't so sure what to think at first but then loved it. We went for many walks. It has been a relaxing and wonderful weekend.

Brendan's Dedication

We were able to dedicate Brendan at our church. We are so thankful for the amazing Resonate community. We have so many people who love us, support us, and help us walk through this life continuing to grow closer to Jesus. We appreciate all those who have already invested in Brendan's life. It made the evening special to be able to have Jamie's parents and Grandma and Josh's Dad there. Brendan was actually the first baby to be dedicated at Resonate. We are excited to have him grow up around this wonderful community of people.

Jamie's parents had us all over for dinner after the service.

Here is a great picture of Josh and his Dad with Brendan.

Here is Jamie's family...

Jamie's cousin Drew also goes to Resonate and was able to come have dinner with us. What a gift to have him in town.

Born a Coug

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.5

If you are born and grow up in Pullman you are destined to be a Coug. Brendan attended his second WSU Cougar basketball game last night and had fun cheering the Cougs on to a victory. We were excited that our football team finally won yesterday also (beating Oregon State). Brendan has already outgrown his "cougar gear" so Dad let him borrow his hat.

Family Pictures

Josh was able to set up a time to take some family pictures with a friend of ours who is a photographer. Kaarin did an AMAZING job!

Let us know if you would like Kaarin to take pictures for you. She is GREAT!!!

The Little Bather

We are leaning more and more about the attitude and temperament of our little guy. As previously noted, he's been dealing with some ear infections. It's probably similar to having a nasty in-grown toe nail or a badly sprained finger, no matter what you do it hurts. Brendan has had some form or fashion of an ear infection for about 6 weeks now. Once one gets better the next one sets in. All that to say, much of the time you wouldn't even know he was in pain. He's smiling and looking you in the eye and crawling all over the house. For the most part he's eating normally and napping/sleeping normally. We truly have a remarkable little man!

More recently we started him on some antibiotics. To spare you the details, the side-effects have been physically and emotionally demanding. We can gladly report that he's doing a lot better but we're still not out of the woods with his ear infections.

One fun thing we got to do was give him lots of baking soda baths (3-5 baths per day). Like other areas of exploration, he's laughed and cried in the sink. The great majority of the time he's laughing and splashing about like in the picture. It's our observation that his favorite part is getting out and having some cuddle time with mom or dad as we dry, diaper and cloth him.

In other news, we're getting to Skype more and more with Josh's Mom and Step Dad who live in Sun Valley, ID. It's really fun to be able to share with them what Brendan's been doing (crawling, climbing, laughing, waving bye-bye, etc). They get to see what he's up to and he gets to hear their voice and see them on the screen. He likes to show off and they eat it up - everybody wins!

We also have been able to visit some friends and family the past few weekends. This picture was taken at our friends Kim and Zach's house. We had a fun weekend celebrating the upcoming arrival of their little boy.
We also got to spend some time with Jamie's sister Jenni and her husband Justin at their new home in Missoula Montana. What a fun city to explore.

8th Grade Volleyball

I love spending time with middle schoolers, the game of volleyball, and coaching. So, coaching 8th grade volleyball is a BLAST. We just finished our season. The group of girls I had this year were the highest skilled team I have coached since my first year coaching at the middle school 5 years ago. It is going to be fun to watch them play at Pullman High School and see all that they will accomplish.

Almost 8 months

Thanks for not giving up on me, I know it has been forever since my last post. The past few months have flown by as I have been busy being back at school, and coaching volleyball. It is really hard to believe that Brendan is already almost 8 months old. I already feel he is growing up too fast. He is no longer a little baby but starting to become a little boy.

He is crawling everywhere and pulling himself up on everything he can. He is learning to wave bye-bye and laughing more and more. What a joy to be his Mom. It is so fun to watch him explore and learn all about his world. It is a little more exhausting (gone are the days of setting him down on the bed to finish a few chores) but so amazing to watch him learn everyday. Now if we could just get over all the ear infections.

A GREAT Weekend!

We spent last weekend at Priest Lake with Jamie's parents and Grandma, and Josh's Mom and Kerry. What a special weekend to be all together. We feel very lucky to have families that love to spend time together--SO FUN!! Brendan didn't know what to do with all the attention. We are also able to celebrate Carol and Karen's birthdays. We decided that might need to become a tradition. Although they had way to much fun blowing the candles on their cake out together. Thanks for a fun weekend everyone!!

Gormleys + Lake + Golf = Sweet Weekend!

Once again we we're blessed to be vacationing with the fabulous Zack and Kim; they're some of our closest friends.

It's no secret that Zack and I like to golf...maybe "like" is an understatement! Nonetheless, the ladies join us here and there. We played the Priest Lake Golf Course ($12 after 4:00 daily) and Mike, Jamie's dad - also an avid golfer, made for a 5-some. Everybody had a great time, Jamie was starting to groove her swing a little more, and everybody had some good shots and bad shots.

Kim and Zack are 6 months (or so) along with a baby boy - we can't wait for him to come home and for Brendan to have someone he too can hang out with while the parents are catching up and playing games.

Maybe one of the coolest blessings God has given us over the years are people in a stage of life behind us (newly married), in our current stage of life (having kids now - the Gormley's), and in a stage of life just ahead of us (families with young kids and families with older kids). Part of God's design for our lives is that we be people in community - we've been blessed by our pursuit of great, fun, deep, encouraging community. As "iron sharpens iron" we too learn from others how to be people who love God and love each other.

All this to say, we always enjoy our time with Kim and Zack and look forward to the next time we can go and be with them.

Thankful for our Community of GREAT Friends

One thing that Josh and I are so thankful for in Pullman is our AMAZING friends. We feel so lucky to have such neat people surrounding us. We know it makes us better people.

I was able to have several friends over this past week to celebrate Paige and Amy's Birthdays! We hung out on the deck, ate marvelous food (especially April's incredible cupcakes), and enjoyed being together.

Brendan hanging out at NBC

he was enjoying himself!

Published with Blogger-droid v1.4.8

We had an excellent couple weeks of NBC Camps at Eastern Oregon University and Whitworth University. We had an amazing staff and really neat groups of young ladies as campers. We are always pretty tired by the time both camps get done--but are always so thankful for the opportunity we have to do this ministry together. It is fun to see the camps growing and the impact the camp has on everyone, not only as volleyball players but as people.

Our theme this summer has been ELECTRIC. Please join us all as we pursuit to lead lives reaching for our ELECTRIC POTENTIAL (understanding that it takes struggle and precise practice to succeed), sharing our ELECTRIC POWER (influencing all those around you for the good, building people up instead of tearing them down), having ELECTRIC PERSPECTIVE (guarding our minds against the negative thoughts that say I can't do it, and being cautious of the traps in life that take us down empty roads...instead choosing to be self-disciplined, choosing to forgive, and choosing to think positively), and understanding that to be electric we must find our power--our ELECTRIC PURPOSE in the ultimate power source--JESUS CHRIST. What a fun and special summer at NBC!! Thank you all who made an impact!

4th of July

WOW--what a crazy but fun month. We were able to visit Josh's family in Sun Valley over the 4th of July, what a special and great time. Brendan got to meet his Grandpa Tim, Great Grandma Cathy and Donna, Aunt Kathy and Uncle Steve, Great Aunt Vickie, and Cousins Tammy, Amy, David and little Dirk (they are already great buds). We feel very lucky and blessed to have such wonderful family. It will be fun to watch Brendan and Dirk grow up together.
